According to EarthSky, each Starlink satellite weighs approximately 500 pounds (227 kilograms) and has dimensions similar to a coffee table. These satellites travel at an average altitude of 340 miles (547 kilometers) above the Earth’s surface as they form a network to deliver internet services.

At that height, the satellites are low enough to be affected by atmospheric drag, causing them to gradually descend and burn up within a few years. This ensures they do not contribute to space debris after their operational lifespan.
